MY

STORY

The journey of Alejandro Bello

My childhood wasn’t easy: I grew up in a humble family with 8 siblings, in the neighbourhood of Las Zocas.

From an early age my interest in the restaurant trade grew steadily, and at 15 I started out in a bar that my parents had managed to open after a great deal of effort.

At 18 I worked in a restaurant that catered mainly to tourism in the south of Tenerife, and 2 years later I was offered a job at a more upscale restaurant, where I spent 13 years of my life.

The turning point in my career came in 2003, when I decided to go into business and opened my first restaurant. Inexperience and external factors came together, and I had to give up the project after 2 years.

After that setback, I decided to go back to my roots and turned my parents’ old bar into a small restaurant. My passion grew and my senses sharpened; I discovered that cooking was what truly fulfilled me.

My restaurant grew quickly and became one of the leading names in the municipality of Adeje.

Five years later, the chance to grow came along, and I threw myself into a big project once again: a spacious, very well-located restaurant. Here the number of guests multiplied and I kept refining my cooking, innovating and offering a wide range of personalised dishes, without forgetting how important it is to stay true to the essence of the produce.

I am backed by a young team that cares about doing things properly. Our greatest strength is giving every guest a personal, family-style welcome, the most important hallmark of my house, “EL LAJAR DE BELLO”.

Hospitality begins at home

Since his early days in his parents’ bar, Alejandro has seen hospitality as a way of looking after people. That warmth is still present at El Lajar de Bello: in the welcome, in the attention to small details and in the dedicated care given to every table.

We want you to enjoy the food and something just as important: feeling listened to, well looked after and as comfortable as you would be at home.
